The Position:
- Foster environment of teamwork and collaboration across functional lines.
- Responsible for Accounts Payable team and functions.
- Oversee and validate weekly AP processing by Property Accountants and Accounts Payable team to include daily ACH upload ensuring timely and accurate disbursement of funds.
- Serve as the point of contact for Vendor Management and third-party services, including Utility processing.
- Facilitate the review of vendor statements and manage vendor compliance with Treasury.
- Responsible for processing and managing filing of annual Forms 1099
- Communicate with the Property Accounting team to discuss the financial performance of properties, provide analysis, and answer financial questions.
- Review journal entries, analyze general ledgers, accruals, and review bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records that comply with GAAP.
- Support Property Accountants with monthly financial processing by reviewing, confirming accuracy, adhering to deadlines, and maintaining various tracking tools.
- Assess current accounting practices and procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
- Participate in documenting and maintaining policies, processes, and procedures (PPP) to ensure consistency and efficiency in accounting operations.
- Serve as backup for Property Accountant as needed.
- Assist the Controller and other team members with various accounting tasks and projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, required.
- Prior experience, minimum three years, with progressive accounting experience in a team lead/supervisor capacity.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and communications skills.
- Ability to work with a team, providing guidance and focusing attention on details, to complete projects.
- Experience organizing, scheduling, and prioritizing team and individual work to meet various objectives and initiatives.
- Advanced experience in Excel (v-look ups, pivot tables, etc.) required.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Teams environments required.
- Multifamily software experience (Yardi, Entrata, RealPage) a plus.
- Knowledge of multifamily real estate and property management a plus.
