Job Description: The office is seeking an experienced Prosecuting Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in criminal law and trial advocacy, with a passion for public service and justice. The Prosecuting Attorney will handle a range of criminal cases, from misdemeanors to felonies, and will be responsible for managing cases from investigation through trial and appeals. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community while advancing your legal career.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prosecute criminal cases in District and Circuit Courts, including preparing and presenting cases at trial.
- Work closely with law enforcement agencies during investigations and provide legal advice as needed.
- Draft legal documents, including indictments, motions, and trial briefs.
- Conduct pre-trial hearings, plea negotiations, and sentencing recommendations.
- Interview witnesses, victims, and law enforcement officers to prepare for trial.
- Participate in community outreach efforts and crime prevention initiatives.
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school in Alabama.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in criminal law or prosecution.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong trial skills, including experience handling felony cases.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy abilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage a high-volume caseload.
- Commitment to justice, integrity, and public service.
