Protein Chromatography Specialist at Simisco BioSciences

Required experience, education and lab skills

• Bachelor’s or Master's degree in biological, chemical, or physical sciences or equivalent education
• One to 3 (1-3) years of pertinent full-time laboratory experience and/or training
• Proficient in standard purification bioprocesses and chromatography techniques
• Knowledge and experience in protein expression, handling, analysis and characterization
• Experience using, maintaining and upgrading Akta fast protein liquid chromatography systems
• Experience using, maintaining and upgrading Agilent 1200 high pressure liquid chromatography system

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform assigned tests in accordance with standard protocols and ensure applicable quality control requirements are met
• Ensure the validity of tests performed by close monitoring of standards Interpret data and provide recommendations
• Maintain complete and well-organized records of day-to-day lab efforts and lab results
• Identify departure from expected results Inform supervisory personnel of all results and any problems encountered
• Ensure good working order of instrumentation through planned, preventive maintenance
• Communicate with supervisory personnel to establish timelines and review results
• Troubleshooting of instrumentation and remediation of issues

• Develop and optimize Standard Operating Procedures that accurately describe work-flow
• Report actual and potential deviation from standard or accepted testing procedures and cooperate fully with any investigation
• Assist with training of fellow technicians and other laboratory personnel
• Maintain the laboratory in a well-stocked and orderly manner
• Actively support and comply with laboratory policies and procedures
• Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in a safe, functional, and sanitary conditions
• Adheres to all established laboratory safety requirements
• Required to use: Personal protective equipment

• Basic theoretical / operational job knowledge in a general laboratory environment required
• Interpersonal skills to deal courteously and effectively with supervisors and co-workers
• Basic knowledge of computer operations and ability to learn new software
• Required to handle biological samples and potentially hazardous chemicals
