Opportunity:

The Prototype Shop Intern position will play a key role in the continued growth and success of the company. This is a paid opportunity.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Work with prototype shop team to develop a variety of products that include conceptual models, and assemblies utilizing hand tools and power tools.
• Develop a variety of prototype models using foam, fabric, wood, plastic, metal or other rapid prototype materials.
• Collaborate with prototype shop team, designers, and engineers to create successful prototypes and meet deadlines.
• Help maintain and keep shop clean and organized.

Qualifications:

• The ideal candidate will be a junior or senior, majoring in Industrial Design, Prototype Engineering and Design or related majors with a 3.0+ grade point average.

• Experience working with automotive paints in an HVLP setup.
• 3D printing experience (SLA, SLS, FDM)—setup and post processing
• Experience working with plastics, foam, wood, and metal.
• Good hand fabrication skills
• Comfortable working with a variety of hand and power tools
• Experience with Adobe Illustrator and some SolidWorks knowledge is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to show and discuss multiple finishing processes/ approach, should be present in a professional portfolio.
• Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
• A proactive attitude and eagerness to contribute to innovative design solutions.
