Job Summary
Responsible for the specimen portion of trial start-up and maintenance for clinical trials managed by Huntsman Cancer Institute Clinical Trials Office. The incumbent will be familiar with a variety of research laboratory concepts, practices, and procedures.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
1. Communicates & collaborates effectively with multiple groups and departments within and outside the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
2. Able to review complex trial documents and determine trial requirements.
3. Create laboratory resource documents compiled from trial reference materials.
4. Responsible for tasks related to specimen processing trial start and amendments which include but are not limited to kit management, ECG and safety notification, obtaining portal access, creating master forms and shipping notifications, attending SIV , and training appropriate staff.
5. Manages time and workload efficiently and prioritizes workflow effectively; able to assess workload and communicate when deadlines cannot be met.
6. Able to work independently; demonstrates adequate problem-solving skills and awareness of available resources.
7. Oversees incoming emails and ensures that all protocol and lab manual changes are addressed in a timely manner.
8. Review trials for feasibility and attend Feasibility Administrative Review ( FAR ) Committee meetings.
9. Create and update Standard Operating Procedures and Work Practice Documents.
10. Routinely plan and implement ideas of process improvements and share them with management and leadership.
11. Work with CTO Finance Department to ensure that all costs associated with the correlative specimens have been built in the budget.
12. Review trials for Feasibility Administrative Review ( FAR ) Committee and attend FAR meetings.
13. Performs on-site auditing and monitoring of the specimens in conjunction with the protocol plan.
14. Mentor junior research staff.

The incumbent is responsible to coordinate research while working with all levels and variety of staff internally and externally to the University. They must employ expertise to determine the most favorable research formats and methods of analysis necessary to attain research objectives.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); plus four years related research experience, and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required.
