MHealth Fairview Health Services is looking for a Psychiatric Associate to join our outstanding Adult Inpatient Mental Health unit! Unit 32 has 16 beds. The unit team consists of one attending Nurse Practitioner; two social workers; an occupational therapist; RN's, psych associates, and health unit coordinator. Station 32 has a mix of many challenging patients who struggle managing their lives in the community. Staff members work together as a team to provide care for these patients in a safe, therapeutic, environment.
This role is approved for 56 hours, every two weeks on the Night shift, working 8-hour shifts and every other weekend with a variable schedule. This position is benefit eligible. Responsibilities/Job Description:
The Psych Associate is responsible for the delivery of patient care, and promotion of a therapeutic environment as delegated by and under the supervision of the RN so that the goals and objectives of treatment are achieved on each unit as assigned.
Maintains safety of patient and staff by conducting the following as assigned:
- Conducts safety checks of patients through visual observation and documentation.
- Conducts room, belonging and unit searches.
- Responds and participates in de-escalation of patient including physical intervention as trained.
- Actively participates in milieu management with treatment team collaboration.
Performs basic patient daily living routines and procedures according to treatment plan:
- Demonstrates knowledge of signs/symptoms of diagnoses and interventions.
- Conducts educational programming with individual and/or patient groups according to appropriate treatment plan.
- Responds to emergency situations as trained per policy.
Participates in the treatment team’s mission, goals and plans:
- Acts as a member of the multi-disciplinary therapeutic team.
- Exhibits verbal communication in a timely, detailed, and professional manner.
- Possesses knowledge of current issues, changes and updates in Behavioral Services policies and procedure
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Basic Life Support Certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or Human Services Field
- Experience working in the mental health field
