Psychiatric Hospital Liaison - Cummins Behavioral Health Systems

Cummins Behavioral Health Systems, Inc. is seeking a clinical professional to fill the role of State Psychiatric Hospital (SPH) & Civil Commitment Liaison in Avon, Indiana.

Job Summary: 

Under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, the State Psychiatric Hospital and Civil Commitment Liaison assists Cummins staff in providing referrals and linkage to services in Indiana's State Psychiatric Hospitals. For individuals 18 and over, admission to a State Psychiatric Hospital necessitates a civil commitment. 

The State Psychiatric Hospital Liaison assists Cummins staff throughout the organization to determine the appropriateness for State Psychiatric Hospital admission.  If medical necessity guidelines for this specific level of care are met, the Liaison coordinates and oversees the referral and admission process with Cummins, the State Psychiatric Hospitals, and the families of individuals that are receiving services.

In addition, the Liaison completes all documentation required by the State Psychiatric Hospital and DMHA for individuals receiving treatment. The Liaison must meet State Psychiatric Hospital and DMHA documentation and visitation time frame expectations. This includes but is not limited to regular meetings with individuals and their State Psychiatric Hospital team.  The purpose of the meetings is to evaluate the psychiatric status of the individual, to ascertain their progress toward treatment goals and readiness for discharge planning. When an individual is considered ready for discharge, the Liaison collaborates with the State Psychiatric Hospital and Cummins teams to coordinate discharge planning.

The candidate we are looking for must possess the following:  

Regular and reliable attendance is a requirement.

1. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment with shifting priorities and multiple deadlines.
2. Foster and maintain a positive working relationship with DMHA, SPH facilities, courts, law enforcement, jails, probation, DCS, inpatient units and other entities.
3. Ability to present self in a professional manner with written and verbal skills to match.
4. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting. 
5. Provides thorough clinical synopsis utilized by providers when testifying at court commitment cases.
6. Convey complex medical information clearly and compassionately.
7. Ability to pick up on subtle non-verbal cues.

10. Detail oriented and possesses excellent organizational skills.
11. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
12. Work in office-based setting at Avon location with regular travel to SPH facilities
13.  High level of comfort in manipulating various software products to document clinic activity, to attend meetings and conduct patient appointments.

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in human services or related field required.
• Minium of five years clinical experience in a behavioral health setting.
