We are seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to support our community clinic in Ashland, WI
Psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners (PNP) are responsible for assessing the mental health status of patients by studying their relevant medical history, performing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, and identifying risk factors that might affect a patient’s mental health. They make diagnoses of their patients’ mental illness based on their assessment and then determine what will be the most effective plan of care. By utilizing their knowledge of psychotherapy modalities and psychopharmacology, and in collaboration with doctors and other professionals, these advanced-practice nurses put their patients on a regimen of therapy and prescription medication to improve their mental health.

The role of the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is to assess, diagnose, and treat the health needs of patients. Many PNPs provide therapy and prescribe medications for patients who have physical, mental health, or substance abuse problems.
- Organizes data concerning patient's family, medical history, and onset of symptoms obtained from patient, relatives, and other sources such as other providers.
- Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients with psychiatric disorders and identifies risk factors for such disorders.
- Examines patient to determine general physical condition.
- Orders laboratory and other special diagnostic tests and evaluates data obtained.
- Determines nature and extent of mental disorder, and formulates treatment program.
- Treats or directs treatment of patient, utilizing variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications.
- Plans and administers therapeutic treatment using telephonic/ telehealth methodologies as indicated by patient needs and state guidelines.
- Appropriate use of PPE/infection control protocols when providing treatment to patients.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Master's degree and/or Advanced Practice Nursing certification (CFNP, APRN, etc.) or equivalent; four to ten years of related experience and/or training.
- Preferred Skills
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software.
- Required Credentials, Certification, Licensure
- Current Wisconsin Licensure and Certification
