Job Title: Psychiatrist - Criminal Justice
Location: Davidson County Sheriff's Office facilities
Schedule: Mon-Fri 8a-4:30p (37.5 hours/week) (Schedule is flexible, options for 4-day, 9-hour work-week also available)
Salary: $200k-$250k range with additional pay for experience
JOB SUMMARY: To provide psychiatric services to individuals incarcerated in the Davidson County Sheriff's Office facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluate and diagnose individuals who are experiencing a psychiatric emergent/urgent or routine condition who are incarcerated.
- Pharmacological treatment for patients including prescribing medications, as well as providing follow up.
- Supervise Nurse Practitioners and/or residents as assigned.
- Coordinate Psychiatric aspects of treatment with the Correctional Mental Health staff (Nurse, Mental Health Specialist, Discharge Planner).
- Provide clinical supervision and education to Correctional Mental Health Team.
- Attend multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and provide consultation by telemedicine and phone when needed.
- Consult with physicians providing medical care for patients as necessary and assist with communication to them.
- In conjunction with Correctional Mental Health Services Program Director, create and revise clinical forms and tools as needed.
- Manage and monitor the use of psychotropic medications in the Correctional Program with the Healthcare Provider (Wellpath).
- Attend collaborative meetings with the HealthCare Provider (Wellpath).
- Attend weekly provider meetings at MHC and provide education to peers as directed by the agency Medical Director.
- In conjunction with the Correctional Mental Health Services Program Director, actively participate in the Quality Improvement Process to ensure care provided is meeting industry standards and contract requirements
- Complete all documentation in a timely manner in the designated electronic health record.
- Attend MH Team meetings
- Promptly communicate with team members regarding any treatment concerns.
- Complete evaluations as necessary for issues of capacity, disability, involuntary hospitalization, etc.
- Available to provide on-call phone consultations as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
- Medical degree (M.D.) in Psychiatry (Licensed in State of Tennessee)
- Valid Tennessee Driver's License
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
- Acceptable Criminal Background Investigation
- Personal Automobile Insurance
