About the Job
The Visitor Membership Services Associate will be responsible for operating the main visitor information and sales desk of the Museum & Library, located at the Museum & Library’s public entrance. They must present a professional, approachable, helpful, and competent demeanor. The Visitor and Membership Associate will provide customer service to patrons by answering questions, directing people to resources within the Museum & Library to aid them in their visit, promoting gift shop, programs, and membership as well as assist in other duties as assigned.

- 14-21 hours/week with a set schedule of Thursday through Saturday from 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM and availability to coverevents/other shifts as necessary
- Interest in history or museum studies preferred
- 1 – 3 years’ experience working in customer service, retail or sales in a nonfood setting
- Intermediate computer software skills – Microsoft Office products, internet research ability, and web.
- Personable, articulate, dependable, organized, and attentive to detail.
- Proficiency in cash handling
- Familiarity with POS preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Availability on weekdays, weekends, some evenings, and some holidays
ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Promote and assist with membership enrollment
- Assist with member data input and tracking in our member and donor database. Some basic clerical membership assistance as assigned.
- Maintain clean and proper appearance of all front-of-house environments
- Complete accurate payment process and reconcile cash drawer
- Gain and use museum and collections knowledge to better assist patrons
- Learn script to lead guided tours
- Perform opening and end of day duties
- Serves as reception for VIP visitors, vendors, and other planned visitors by pleasantly greeting guests and notifying the Executive Assistant or appropriate staff upon arrival.
- Assist during special events
- Answer general inquiries related including those related to membership, screen, and direct incoming phone calls.
- Acts as first line of troubleshooting support for membership website issues.
- Other duties as assigned
