Job Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Public Affairs Coordinator to play a key role in intergovernmental and community relations. This position involves coordinating and fostering effective relationships between community organizations and local, state, and federal governmental agencies.
Availability:
This position requires the flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to support events and community engagement efforts during a 4-month assignment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Strategically engage with elected officials, government agencies, legislative staff, and community leaders to represent the organization’s interests during the legislative process.
- Monitor and track legislation, government policies, and constituent concerns to provide strategic recommendations and insights.
- Coordinate and execute internal and external events, programs, and activities, collaborating with department staff and external partners.
- Assist in planning community programs and outreach strategies to build strong relationships with the community and align with organizational goals.
- Support sponsorship and community outreach efforts related to state and national legislative meetings and conferences.
- Build working relationships with housing organizations, community partners, and non-profits to advance shared missions.
- Assist with day-to-day operations, special projects, and initiatives as needed.
- Represent the organization at meetings, seminars, and forums.
- Participate in initiatives focused on Trauma Informed Care (TIC) and equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with city government, state legislature, congress, or community-based organizations.
- Experience in event planning and execution.
- Proficiency in Google GSuite applications (Chrome, Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides).
- Valid Texas Class “C” driver’s license.
