Public Affairs Organizer - Planned Parenthood of Northern New England

CHARACTERISTIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Seek and develop opportunities to engage our communities in ways that will expand recruitment and build leadership
• Create and nurture community alliances and collaborations that promote community partnership
• Possess and grow a personal and professional commitment to and understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion and justice in the context of community and grassroots organizing
• Build relationships with strategic partners including BIPOC and LGBTQ led organizations and mission aligned advocacy groups
• Plan and implement events and projects including traditional canvasses, abortion stigma reducing deep canvassing, health center advocacy programs, storytelling cultivation, phone banks, community events, and recruitment opportunities
• Support policy work by activating community and volunteer networks to execute grassroots organizing tactics
• With the support of the Director of Communications, create social media postings for various PPNNE/AF properties
• Manage time affectively to accomplish campaign goals, develop timelines and benchmarks, and produce reports to tell the story of your progress
• Make decisions and using professional discretion and judgement in developing work plans and adjusting to new circumstances while publicly representing Planned Parenthood
• Utilize specialized skills and technical understanding for field organizing, which requires understanding of field organizing practices, use and application of various computer programs
• Develop volunteer leadership, including recruiting, motivating, cultivating and developing a team through side-by-side coaching and volunteer trainings
• Develop youth organizing teams and develop and support student organizations at local colleges/universities
• Accept assigned goals for specified regions in the state and be responsible for reaching those goals
• Actively participate in electoral campaigns, supporting the election of endorsed candidates, and ballot measures through coordinated or independent expenditure activities.
• Maintain volunteer and voter databases

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and experience
• Commitment to a team
• Computer literacy
• Experience working with volunteers
• Understanding of state's political process
• Drivers license and access to a car
• Comfortable talking about all services PPNNE provides

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

• Compensation for this position is based on years of direct work experience. Candidates with 0-6 years of experience can expect to earn between $23.67 - $26.64/hr. As experience increases, so does the rate of pay, with candidates who have 17 or more years of direct experience earning up to 33.12/hr.
