Duties and responsibilities: * Assists with data analysis in the CARES databases. * Works with CARES oversight staff to help implement the CARES (Cardiac Arrest Registry to Enhance Survival) program in Indiana. * Provide training and oversight for participating communities to ensure consistency in the data collection, auditing and reporting processes. * Outreach to potential project partners in local, regional healthcare as well as community-based partnerships. * Work with CARES oversight staff in generating reports and other data requests on schedule. * Coordinate communications and meetings with CARES partners and participating EMS agencies and hospitals. * Responsible for coordinating the daily operational tasks that are needed for the maintenance of participating and future sites. * Troubleshooting database errors and software system issues. * Establish and coordinate the CARES data sharing committee for the state and field requests for regional and state data. * Incorporates interpersonal skills in communication with stakeholder personnel, colleagues, and the public. * Collaborates with trauma system stakeholders including the Indiana Trauma Care Commission and EMS Commission. * Travel will be required. * Performs related duties as assigned.Additional responsibilities would include the dissemination of information inthe form of manuals, data definitions, publications, online meetings, telephoneconference calls, and emails to maintain the data collection and review processfor each participating EMS agency, hospital, and dispatch center in your state.The coordinator will also need to communicate general findings and updates inCARES progress/development to the key stakeholders in the state and programparticipants. The coordinator will review essential information regarding anagency’s system configuration, determine the appropriate means of datacollection, and conduct site-specific training sessions with EMS and hospitalpersonnel. The coordinator will work with local system administrators to ensurecompliance with data-entry schedules, resolve access/password issues, updateagency, hospital, and first responder accounts and information.Job requirements:Experience with program coordination, experience working with Emergency Medicinedepartments, experience with large data files and analysis, experience workingwith people from different healthcare disciplines, strong communication skills –both written and oral, ability to work independently and in a team environment,and experience with data and project management.Education:A bachelor’s degree in Public Health, or related discipline, will be a minimumrequirement for the position. Computer proficiency with software applicationsincluding MS Word, Excel, Power Point and basic statistical applications willalso be necessary.Difficulty of work:Incumbent uses judgment in implementing guidelines to follow based on CARESprogram, but also relies on the direction of CARES oversight staff and Traumaand Injury Prevention Program Director. Work is broad in scope and requiresin-depth analysis of multiple variables to fit various circumstances of a mediumto complex enterprise-wide system.Responsibility:Incumbent exercises professional judgment in situations requiring sensitivityand/or confidentiality. Incumbent works closely with higher-level staff and/ormanagement to outline general objectives and boundaries that incumbent willfollow to meet the requirements of the agency. Unusual problems or deviationsfrom guidelines or practice are discussed with the CARES oversight staff andTrauma and Injury Prevention Program Director.General goals, objectives and problems affecting agency policy and practices arediscussed with supervisors, but incumbent utilizes own initiative in performanceand implementation of CARES program and other data sets. General methodology andhandling of procedures are at the discretion of the incumbent. His/ her work isreviewed by supervisor concerned for compliance with policy and agency programgoals.Personal work relationships:Incumbent works with personnel from within the agency, including division staff,and external to the agency including other state agency staff, EMS providers,hospital employees and others for the purpose of implementing the CARES programstatewide. Contacts are for the purpose of informing, gathering information andinterpreting that information to arrive at appropriate solutions, providetechnical expertise and coordinate workflow. Contacts can involve persuading andnegotiating to accomplish mission while maintaining good stakeholder relations.
