Who We Are:
The Atlanta Community Food Bank is working to end hunger in our community with the food, people and big ideas needed so that no one worries where their next meal is coming from. Since 1979, we’ve been providing food for a growing network of nonprofit partners – including food pantries, community kitchens, childcare centers, night shelters and senior centers. We currently work with nearly 700 partners in 29 counties across metro Atlanta and north Georgia.

About the Role:
The Public Relations Manager is charged with creating and maintaining a favorable public image for the Food Bank by communicating programs, accomplishments, and/or points of view. The individual in this role must be a go-getter - a relationship builder with experience developing and maintaining relationships with the media to be leveraged to enhance awareness of the Food Bank brand.
As the Public Relations Manager you will support media relations and other PR functions for the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Additionally, you will work closely with the Director, Marketing and Communications and our PR firm to implement our PR strategy and collaborate with fellow communicators, marketers, designers, and Food Bank leadership.
What You’ll Do:
Media Relations: Builds and Nurtures Relationships:

Forges, grows, and maintains influential media relationships; establishes new relationships with local and national media – including TV, Radio, Print and Digital reporters and influencers - to deliver a unified message of the Food Bank’s impact on the community

Leverages relationships and executes media strategy to secure high level placements in print, broadcast and online media

Collaborates with the PR firm on the execution of the overall PR strategy

Assists in the preparation, planning, and execution of all media partnership events – including coordination of internal and external cross functional collaboration, as needed

Creates content, produces presentations and press releases, and responds to inquiries from the public and/or press, as needed, to grow awareness

Coordinates with executive leadership to craft and pitch press releases and thought leadership columns

Clarifies the organization’s point of view to constituents through media releases and interviews, as needed

Provides support and serves as brand ambassador for all external requests for information, logo support, and event support
Data and Reporting

Collaborates with PR firm on all media coverage reports and presentations of analytics

Monitors media coverage, provides regular media activity reports, coverage reports and evaluation of PR impact
Administration/Support

Supports maintenance of the Crisis Communication Plan for the Food Bank

Guides media training, as necessary

Maintains awards application and pitch databases, leads awards applications, and tracks progress

Maintains database of reporters and contacts for annual media engagement events

What You’ll Need: Skills and Experience your resume should demonstrate:

Track record of designing and executing successful public relations campaigns

Working knowledge of Media tracking platforms (e.g. Meltwater and TVeyes)

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

Demonstrated history in interviewing individuals, getting people to share their stories, developing trust, expressing empathy, and building confidence

Attention to detail

Highly organized, strong project management, deadline oriented
Even Better if You Have:

Experience managing/coordinating efforts with a PR firm

Microsoft Office expertise, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel

Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
