About the Job
Our Public Safety Dispatchers play a critical role in public safety as the first contact in the early identification of emergencies and assigning appropriate emergency resources.
On the front lines, dispatchers receive and dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls to appropriate public safety personnel, maintain records and computer entries and interact with the public, county departments, employees, and other officials.
Our dispatchers receive training on and utilization of various software, including but not limited to: Criminal Integrated Justice System, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management System (RMS), mapping system, digital logging recorder, and hearing impaired teletype system. Following training, the dispatcher must have the ability to operate telecommunication equipment and Computer Telephony 9-1-1.
Candidates must submit a typing test for consideration following the completion of an application.
