Summary - basic function of the role
We are looking for a Purchasing Analyst to support our procurement activities and optimize our supply chain operations. The Purchasing Analyst will be responsible for analyzing purchasing data, identifying cost-saving opportunities, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent negotiation abilities, and a thorough understanding of procurement processes.
Shift: Monday - Friday, hybrid 3 days in office schedule in Menomonee Falls for 2024. Relocating to Milwaukee, WI in early 2025
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Generate purchase orders and monitor inventory levels to ensure timely replenishment and minimize stockouts.
- Assist with indirect supplier projects and material orders.
- Utilize data analytics tools and software to generate reports, forecasts, and insights to support decision-making.
- Conduct supplier evaluations and audits to assess performance, quality, and compliance with contractual agreements and regulatory requirements.
- Resolve any issues or discrepancies related to purchasing activities, including order discrepancies, delivery delays, and quality concerns.
- Analyze purchasing trends, market conditions, and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
- Manage supplier relationships including resolving quality and supply issues, improving supplier performance, negotiating pricing / terms / contracts, and building successful supply chain partnerships.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and requirements, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Validate invoices for all closed orders to process payment to suppliers.
- Analyze internal purchasing practices and suggest improvements for continuous improvement of the business.
- Stay informed about industry trends, market developments, and best practices in supply chain management.
Skills and Competencies
- +3 years' experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain management, or manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must have experience working with Microsoft programs and a good working knowledge of ERP/or similar stock control systems. Oracle experience is preferred.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of plant manufacturing processes is a plus (e.g. WMS/Bar coding, Capacity Planning and MES).
- Knowledge of Material Requirements Planning, Kanban, Vendor Managed Inventory, and Purchasing is a plus.
- Must be a self-starter and self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from internal customers or members of the business community and be a strong problem solver.
- Ability to influence others through reasoning and communication (written and oral).
- Ability to execute multiple tasks to deadlines.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field.
Physical Demands
Employee may have to lift documents/work materials up to 30 pounds in weight. Employee will have to be able to walk/climb to a variety of primary work locations, including traveling by air/auto to remote sites. Position may require travel up to 5% of time depending on assigned projects. Employee will need to listen, understand, and speak with team members in person, telephonically, and electronically at all levels within a diverse workforce and with supported organizations. Employee is able to work in front of a personal computer and telephone for long periods of time.
Work Environment
Primary work environment is temperature controlled office setting but may also be visiting different manufacturing facilities where following appropriate safety protocols at the location would be required. Employee will be exposed to low levels of noise in the office and elevated levels of noise on the plant floor.
