Purchasing Assistant - Best Line Equipment

Best Line Equipment is currently seeking a Purchasing Assistant at our State College, PA business office. The Purchasing Assistant will be responsible for supporting business operations by ordering products or materials consistent with Best Line's brand. Duties include maintaining relationships with suppliers, vendors, or wholesalers, placing orders for products based on current inventory needs and tracking shipments from manufacturing locations to retail stores or company warehouses.
Description of Responsibilities:
- Work with purchasing manager to support operation of purchasing department.
- Perform vendor research and selection to enhance profitability, reducing operating costs and boosting efficiency.
- Maintain cordial working relationships with vendors and supervising vendor activities.
- Sign and review purchasing agreements with vendors, monitoring their performance and assisting in renegotiation of contracts.
- Use quarterly and annual data to determine purchasing needs and perform inventory management.
- Manage purchase orders, overseeing shipping schedules and maintaining purchase records.
- Work with staff to compare deliveries with purchase orders to identify discrepancies.
- Conduct ongoing market research to identify beneficial purchase agreements and potential vendors.
- Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
- Accurately input invoice details into the accounting system, including vendor information, invoice amounts, and payment terms.
Essential Job Functions:
- Use computers and computer systems to enter data and process information.
- Performing day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
- Communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources.
- Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
- Processing information and verifying data.
- Entering, transcribing, recording, and maintaining information in written and electronic form.
- Processing information by compiling, coding, categorizing, auditing and verifying information or data.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective purchase and distribution of products.
- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to use a computer and excellent customer service skills.
- Team-player with the ability to manage multiple items simultaneously.
Education and Experience:
- Three years of relevant experience in a purchasing position preferred.
- Valid driver's license.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay Range: $20.00 - $24.00/hour, dependent on experience
