The Purchasing Co-Op will work directly with other members of the purchasing department, as well as engineering, manufacturing, and a diverse supply base. The interaction with these various groups will allow the individual to build communication skills and improve critical thinking in a professional atmosphere.
The Purchasing Co-Op offers a set onsite schedule of 40 hours per week.
Start Date: January 2025
End Date: mid-August 2025
What you will do:
- Processing the purchases of select Maintenance, Repair, and Operation (MRO) orders with assistance and oversight of the Indirect Buying team.
- Working with various software and E-commerce systems.
- Working on projects and producing reports to assist buyers.
- Analyzing, preparing, and negotiating quote packages.
- Assisting with the liquidation of obsolete raw material and parts inventory.
- Communicating effectively and professionally with vendors, buyers, internal stakeholders & management.
- Troubleshooting vendor or order issues to help maintain the orderly function of the department.
- Appling Total Cost of Ownership metrics in evaluating purchasing decisions.
- Keeping good records.
- Passing on their knowledge and assisting with the training of their successor.
Additional Qualifications Include:
- Major study in Supply Chain Management, Engineering Management, or Applied Engineering Sciences.
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated sophomore, junior, or senior.
- Minimum 2.8 GPA.
- Basic computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Excellent judgment and communication skills.
- Knowledge of the purchasing processes, including a basic understanding of inventory control, EOQ, A/B/C prioritization, etc. preferred.

The Co-Op will be assigned a mentor and will be supervised by the Indirect Procurement team. An evaluation will be given, and feedback regarding the experience/possible program improvements will be requested from the individual as well.
