S 3 , Inc.is seeking a Purchasing III to join the contracts and procurement team at our corporate HQ in Research Park, Huntsville, AL.
Description:
The Purchasing III will be working under the supervision and general direction of senior Contracts personnel to research and review specifications and documentation required to process requests and perform diversified clerical and administrative support duties within the Contracts department.
Responsibilities:
- Utilizes Costpoint Materials Module to prepare purchase orders and forward the required documents to vendors.
- Reviews market price catalogs and contacts suppliers to obtain prices, availability of items, and other specifications.
- Maintains files and records of material prices, inventories, and deliveries, and, researches technical data from various government publications and vendor catalogs to ascertain the validity of the item being requisitioned.

- Determines the type of requisition documentation required to procure material accurately and completes all required documentation.
- Coordinates with vendors and shippers to expedite purchased material as well as maintaining accurate shipping information from freight forwarders.
- Compiles statistical information for use in project or department budget planning and prepares a weekly report on status of requisitions purchased.
- Processes subcontractor and consultant invoices, utilizing CostPoint purchasing / blanket orders and releases, and ensures Contractor Purchasing System Review (CPSR) compliance.
- Supports closeout activities, primarily focused on purchasing and subcontracts.
- Performs other duties as assigned and may require performance beyond normal business hours.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, management, or a related discipline. May substitute a bachelor' degree with a high school diploma and at least six years of purchasing experience supporting the federal contract industry.
- Five or more years of DoD purchasing experience, with the most recent three years directly supporting DoD purchasing activities in a high-paced industry environment.
- Three years of recent experience working for a federal services company with revenue exceeding $10 million per year.
- At least one year of experience working with Deltek CostPoint.
- At least one year of experience supporting contract/subcontract activities and ensuring Contractor Purchasing System Review (CPSR) compliance
- Must be flexible to work in the Huntsville, AL, corporate offices and work over time as needed.
- Experience with Contractor Purchasing System Review (CPSR) compliance is a plus.
