reSAWN TIMBER co. provides new and reclaimed wood products for architectural
specifications for flooring, interior wall cladding, ceilings, exterior siding, and custom millwork.
We specialize in meeting the needs of architects, designers, and contractors, and providing
superior service and guidance in developing specifications for wood products.
reSAWN is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced lumber purchaser to join our
procurement team. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, the ideal candidate for this role will
play a critical part in the purchasing of lumber, finish and supplies to ensure smooth operations
and desired margins for the organization. This role requires the ability to build relationships
with suppliers, negotiate pricing and terms, and to hold the highest standard possible for our
materials and vendors.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Procurement:
- Supervise the timely and accurate purchasing of rough lumber, milled wood products and
finishes
- Collaborate with internal departments to understand their purchasing needs and provide
effective solutions
- Supervise the purchase of manufacturing and office supplies across the organization to
ensure timely delivery at the best possible pricing
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies for lumber products that align with company
goals
Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, price, and reliability
Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with suppliers to secure the best possible terms
Collaborate cross-departmentally to develop clear QC procedures for new and existing
species/grades of wood and formulation of finishes
- Analyze procurement data to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and areas for
improvement in materials management
Inventory Control:
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure an adequate supply of lumber while minimizing excess
stock
- Collaborate with inventory management teams to forecast demand and adjust purchasing
plans accordingly
Supplier Relationship:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and resolve
any issues that arise.• Conduct regular performance reviews of suppliers and provide feedback to drive
improvements.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor purchasing staff, providing guidance and support in daily operations -
including purchasing of materials, verification of receipts, accurate billing and communication
with vendors
- Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages continuous improvement
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure compliance with company policies related to purchasing and procurement
Prepare regular reports on purchasing activities, costs, and inventory levels for management
review
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 3 years experience with purchasing & inventory management, preferably within the
lumber or building materials industry
Knowledge of wood species, profiles and grades
Strong math skills and ability to convert from SF - LF - BF for lumber and milled products
Strong negotiation and communication skills
Ability to analyze data and make strategic decisions
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
PREFERRED SKILLS
Familiarity with Quickbooks Desktop and web-based applications
Ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced work environment
