Job Summary
Work with and manage all aspects of the Quality Control process for daily operations within the assigned NA region, people, process, and procedures. Ensures optimal performance of Quality Control in all its aspects. Reports on the effectiveness of Quality Control within the organization to the regional site manager. Strives for Continual Improvement of the process, while working closely with other functional groups, such as Plant Operations, QC management, R&D Labs, Product Managers, EH&S, Procurement, and Commercial.
What will you do?
- Responsible the overall QC performance daily, working closely with and supporting plant production. Maintains direct responsibility for data management and analytics within site(s).
- Manage the regional Quality Control personnel.
- Maintaining correct personnel in the organization site(s)and workforce requirements, bearing in mind human, cultural, and social circumstances.
- Proper schooling and training.
- The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for their site(s) in the assigned region and includes interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing their work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Implements the general strategies, policies, and directives of the Quaker Houghton Global Ops/EHS/Procurement organization.
- Oversee the QC Lab activities regarding non-conforming batches. Ensure that the non-conforming product investigation and documentation processes follow established procedures.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting of QC issues and interface with Production and Development Lab personnel, as appropriate.
- Leads the internal and external Quality Board process, and manages the investigation, resolution, and documentation of non-conforming products. Documents action items, corrective actions, and the resolution of quality issues through the CAR process.
- Supports the investigation of potential quality problems identified by Quaker field personnel and/or customer complaints through the CPR process.
- Ensure compliance to SOX, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 (ISO 18001) approval and help with internal and external audits.
- Facilitate development, implementation, and management of key performance indicators (KPI’s) for assigned area of responsibility. Generate daily QC Lab quality statistics and summarize them in a monthly Quality Report for each Quaker location.
- Ensure the integrity of QC laboratory data. Write, revise, and maintain the QC Lab Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instruction documents. Manage the instrument calibration and preventative maintenance program for lab equipment.
- Manages and reports on cost center budgets monthly, working with A&A to verify and control all laboratory related costs including supplies and maintenance agreements.
What do we look for?
Key Education or Certification Required:
Bachelor’s degree (B. A. or B.S.) in related technical discipline with experience as a supervisor or in a team lead role preferred. Persons with an education less than a degree must demonstrate five (5) years of successful related experience and training.
Must have successful work experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably related to Quality Control of chemical products or technical knowledge of Quality Management and lab instrument.
Required Minimum Number of Years of Relevant Experience:
Five (5) years or equivalent training.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock, slippery surfaces.
The noise level in the environment is usually moderate; occasionally exposed to loud noise levels.
