Location Description:Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled and curds.
Responsibilities:SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to ensure proper specifications are met and documented on all incoming ingredients and packaging materials and outgoing finished products. The technicians also communicate all findings to the necessary departments. All of Michael Foods, the customers and the public will benefit from the work done by technicians who ensure safe, compliant quality products. This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.
ACTIVITIES:
- Communicates and coordinates with Production to keep processing up to date as issues are found.
- Adheres to safe work practices, following GMP’s, maintaining sanitary conditions and ensuring that product quality is maintained. Reports to management if any conditions or practices may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
- Verify PC’s and CCP’s are complete and signed off.
- Responsible for following the shift’s checklist for the area.
- Accountable for filling out inventory adjustment sheets when finished product is removed from inventory.
- Accountable for filling out hold tags when product is to be put on hold.
- Responsible for weekly environmental swabs and air plates.
- Ensures employees are following proper safety policies/procedures.
- Performs and records assigned QAT tasks as identified in Red Zone.
- Works with micro, process/chemistry lab and QA supervisor to get product samples to the labs in a timely manner.
- Adheres to all safety policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.
- Knowledge of food safety and HACCP principles that is critical to food products, microbiology and chemistry testing.
- Ability to lift 55-pound boxes above the shoulders.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal relationships with co-workers, supervisors, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to problem solve.
- Microsoft Word and Excel experience required.
- Ability to recognize problem situations and take appropriate steps to resolve.
- Available to work weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.
- Good organizational skills.
- Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with others to complete work assignments.
- Open to change.
- Self-motivated while also willing to ask questions and seek direction.
