Position Snapshot
A Quality Assurance/Shipping Manager is responsible for implementation, deployment and maintenance of a plant-wide quality system that complies with quality standards as well as key customer requirements. You are responsible for evaluating shipping and receiving processes for effectiveness and identifying opportunities for improvement. This you will place emphasis on the delivery of a quality product to customers while meeting time and delivery requirements working daily to ensure assigned areas of responsibility are working with risk lowered to As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) specifically in an effort to achieve ZERO HARM so no injuries, illness or negative impact occurs to employees, property, the environment or the community. To be successful in this role you will:
- Supervises quality assurance and shipping personnel on daily activities coordinating replacement or fill-in for quality assurance and shipping employees during their absence.
- Manage quality assurance ensuring that quality exceeds customers' expectations complying with and exceeding ASTM standards.
- Develop procedures for the elimination of internal and external quality problems assuring good customer relations.
- Communicate to all levels of management current quality status, trends, problem areas and procedures as needed.
- Maintains and coordinates all DOT requirements.
- Participates in quarterly inventories.
- Implement and manage a controlled documentation system of product specification and operating procedures.
- Implement and manage a calibration system to ensure equipment is operating in proper condition and meeting quality expectations.
- Research and execute capital appropriation expenditures
- Maintain accurate finished goods inventories by supervising the performance of cycle counts as well as complete physical inventories as appropriate or otherwise scheduled by management.
- Work closely with sales, scheduling and operations to meet customers’ delivery requirements.
- Ensure final product and package meet appropriate DOT, customer and company requirements.
- Evaluates methods and means of storage to ensure that there is efficient utilization of storage area for raw materials and finished goods.
- Professional, technical, or administrative training (2-year associate degree); including knowledge of quality assurance or knowledge of work-related manufacturing methods and techniques.
- A minimum of 3 years’ work-related experience is required.
- An equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be acceptable.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel, Word, and Outlook
