Job Description:The Quality Control Inspector (Structural/Civil) will be a full-time, on-site employee providing inspection services related to the scope of work as required. Inspectors will also assist with the review of design drawings and specifications, shop drawings, other submittals, and analysis of technical issues.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Providing construction inspection and plan review services.
- Strong knowledge of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure relation and compliance to project requirements.
- Responsible as onsite liaison with contractor and oversight of progress of construction.
- Monitor and review the activities of contractors/subcontractors, engineers, architects, and related performing entities to ensure compliance with design plans and specifications.
- Review plans and contractors work and materials for compliance with quality and design specifications.
- Participate in project meetings and provide input to meeting minutes, documentation, administration, and tracking of relevant information.
- Ensure contractors, architects, and engineers adhere to contractual requirements on areas of safety, performance, project staff, and equipment.
- Ensure project closeout to obtain guarantees, warranties, and related provisions for turnover to the owner.
- Perform other duties as required to ensure project success.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture is preferred (Extensive relevant construction management experience in place of education may be considered).
- Federal Security Clearance.
- Must have specialized training and a minimum of five years inspection experience related specifically to structural inspections.
- Minimum of five years’ experience providing similar services on projects of comparable size and complexity.
- Ability to work with multiple contractors and multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge and application of construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, techniques, materials, applications, and practices.
- Experience in the Justice or Federal Detention Sector preferred.
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, and experience with project-related Construction Management systems are preferred.
- Certified Construction Manager preferred.
