Position Summary
We are seeking a 1st shiftQuality Control Inspector to work out of our Milwaukee Service Center. This employee will be responsible for dimensional, electrical, or mechanical inspection of large and expensive machines or equipment to ensure conformance with quality standards. This employee will, also, be responsible for devises inspection setups, gauges, devices, procedures, and oversee their application. The QC Inspector will be responsible for maintaining calibration, including records, on all precision measuring equipment for the entire shop operations. They may train co-workers on quality processes and procedures.
Essential Duties
- Record as received, dimensional data on data sheets supplied from Engineering or on digital printed photos, sketches, and graph paper.
- Measure and record accurate dimensional information for reverse engineering and future job quote
- Maintain records and perform calibration on all precision measuring equipment.
- Solve inspection problems encountered in process inspection and testing.
- Advise or suggest measuring tools needed for field service and repair trips or inform employees as to what is available at sites.
- Perform final inspection on completed service or repair product prior to shipment.
- Train employees on inspection procedures and the proper usage of precision measuring tools.
- Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
- Assist in assembly duties on generators and turbines on an as needed basis.
- Occasional operation of overhead cranes, forklift trucks, and small machines.
- Provide information relative to employee performance.
- May be assigned other tasks where similar or lesser skills are required or where activities are monitored, usually of short duration to meet production requirements.
- Certified to perform liquid penetrant nondestructive testing to Level II per ASNT SNT-TC-1A.
Education and Required Experience
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Some college or technical training preferred.
- 5 or more years of experience in related quality inspection
- 3 - 5 years knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles and inspection techniques, and a special knowledge of the specific type of products being serviced and repaired.
- Previous experience with ISO.
- 1 - 3 years of applied training in using geometry, algebra, and trigonometric principles.
- Must have ability to use complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, various types of precision measuring instruments, and a personal computer to input data.
- Data interpretation and measuring devices require advanced skills knowledge and judgment.
- Able to determine what additional dimensioning and inspection procedures are required.
- Must be capable of giving inspection procedures from routings, drawings, and files from prior jobs.
- Organize and prioritize jobs to be worked on, identify what tools are needed to be used, and appropriate inspection techniques.
Tools/Equipment
- Precision measuring instruments. Tape measures, rulers, forklift. Computer usage (windows format). Magnification devices (microscopes).
- Able to independently measure and program CMM and FARO arms

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places, and risk of shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat, extreme cold and wet, humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
