Team Overview
Impinj's RAIN RFID laboratory in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Seattle is home to our talented silicon engineering and product development teams. In this role, you'll be front line support for the teams based in the lab and help them test the product, debug hardware, and do what it takes achieve critical deadlines. This will include supporting our Quality Assurance team, inspecting wafers for conformance issues under microscopes. This role will also support our EPIC Industrialization team, building inlays from our product, prepping samples for test, and collecting data from test benches.
Due to the hands-on nature of the work, this is a 100% on-site role at our Beacon Hill office location in Seattle.
What you will do
- Inspect wafers for conformance manually and under a microscope, passing or rejecting them based on a pre-defined inspection criterion, utilizing the ability to read schematics and technical drawings
- Work closely with EPIC Industrialization and Silicon Processing engineers on evaluation and analysis of EPIC products
- Complete die sheer, bend, THT, and TCT tests on Inlays built with Impinj ICs and analyze the test data to ensure data integrity
- Follows standard operating procedures (SOPs) while providing feedback for increased efficiency and process improvement if/when applicable
- Prepare, load, and process wafers through the automated inspection tool
- Select appropriate wafer product to process based on daily priority from the Quality and Industrialization Lead Technician
- Manage physical movement of non-conforming products and document non-conformance
- In partnership with other quality team members, promote quality improvement by analyzing significant defects and non-conformity data to reduce/ eliminate quality defects
- Inspect engineering products to support Engineering team for New Product Development
- Provide inspection for returned wafers (RMA) from customer claims/ticket
- Prepare and ensure movement of material through production to shipment
- Operate wafer cleaning machine and inspection equipment
- Document activities in quality and manufacturing systems
- Issue work orders for incoming production wafers
- Other duties as needed across the laboratory teams
What you will bring
- +2 years of experience in a clean room, laboratory, or hardware development environment
- Associate's degree in electronic technology and/or equivalent training and experience
- Experience working on shopfloor non-conformity management is preferred
- Experience using equipment such as digital multimeters, microscopes, solder stations, and/or mechanical stress testers
- Knowledge of and/or hands-on working experience with Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) components
- Troubleshooting skills at the board or assembly level for electromechanical equipment
- Passion for learning and ability to learn new skills quickly
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite tools; specifically, Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Ability to read schematics and technical drawings preferred
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 preferred
- Takes initiative to 'fill the gap' and is confident 'wearing many hats' in this dynamic position
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and oral
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and escalate issues to supervisors or engineering leads
- Must be able to work in person at our Beacon Hill office location
- Willingness to work overtime hours, including Saturdays, mornings, and/or evenings as needed
Compensation and Benefits:
The benefits listed below may vary depending on the nature of your employment with Impinj and the country where you work.
The typical base pay range for this role across the US is $30.00/hr - $36.00/hr. Individual base pay depends on various factors such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties, requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Both market wage data and the mid-point of the pay range is reviewed and used as the starting point for all new hire offers. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
At Impinj certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.
