Why This Job
CMC is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to join our Fabrication team in Lawrenceville, GA. The Quality Assurance Manager oversees all fabrication quality control testing and related activities. This position provides the tools and resources necessary to foster an atmosphere of continuous improvement and employee development in quality assurance. Continuous process improvements plant wide include: fabrication quality, welding processes, cost efficiency, inventory control, reduce waste and management of inspection operations. The Quality Assurance Manager advocates sound business practices to support fabrication operational processes to produce quality products within budget that meet or exceed customer expectations and supports the business strategies and goals of the facility and CMC. Successful candidates will have a strong safety mindset and a desire to learn.
What You'll Do
- Serve as a champion for CMC's Safety Policies and Procedures and promote a safety culture throughout the team
- Maintain and ensure that the inspection team is contributing toward producing the best quality fabricated products by reviewing welds, dimensional accuracy, and overall operational processes
- Responsible for receiving, tracking, assessing, and responding to customer complaints or issues, to include working with managers and employees to identify root cause, and implement corrective actions
- Provide tools and training to develop employee and other members of the management team in the quality process, servicing as a true business partner in developing solutions
- Review and interpret welding procedures, shop drawings, and fabrication specifications
- Maintain welder qualification records and certifications
- Assist department in meeting safety, production, and quality goals
- Communicate and coordinate with crew members to sustain a quality finished product that meets or exceeds customer expectations and is sustained within specifications
- Create and maintain accurate documentation of product concepts, tooling, drawings and shop orders in coordination with the Quality Assurance and manufacturing functions.
- Create, implement and maintain quality control procedures
- Enforces training quality standards through review, editing, and approvals of training materials and e-learning content
- Manage product quality issues with internal and external customers
- Oversee production to ensure quality standards are met and assist the QC department in identifying root causes and eliminating identified issues
- Produce fabricated pieces in line with customer orders and ensure that parts fit within specified parameters via testing and/or quality control checks
What You'll Need
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification required
- 5+ years of experience in metal fabrication quality control
- Experience with rebar fabrication and placement strongly preferred
- 1 to 2 years minimum experience in a supervisory role required
Your Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in welding technology, engineering technology, or related field preferred
