About the Job
Responsibilities & Requirements:
- The Quality Management Associate Scientist (QMAS) performs microbiological tests on a variety of plated/liquid culture media products and interprets data to ensure product quality.
- The QMAS performs visual inspections of physical samples and paper records and employ standard microbiology laboratory technique including but not limited to pipetting, streak/spread plate inoculations methods, pour plate methods, serial dilutions, stab inoculation technique among others.
- The QMAS is adept at maintaining aseptic technique, is detailed oriented and organized, possesses good time management skills and can succeed working in a team setting as well as independently.
- This scientist must be able to operate stationary instruments of low to moderate complexity, such as pH meters, analytical balances, and spectrophotometer, among others.
- In addition, the Quality Management Associate Scientist may perform non-routine tasks such as supporting product inspection for ongoing investigations and projects.
- The QMAS is required to work often with computer systems and software.
- The QMAS must be able to seat, walk and stand for extended periods of time and up to 4 continuous hours, lift and carry items weighing up to 15 pounds independently, and keep constant handwritten records.
- The QM Associate Scientist must be able to use personal protective equipment such as lab coats, respirator masks, gloves, non-permeable full cover shoes and safety glasses for extended periods of time.
- The QM Associate Scientist will work in any of the laboratories within the QC department without a permanent assignment.
- The QM Associate Scientist may be required to perform testing of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (TB) and other similar organisms requiring Biosafety Level 3 Laboratory containment with strict adherence to safety policies associated with this manner of testing.
