This is a leadership position with primary responsibilities for Quality Control Activities at the CDC facility in Liberty, MO who will operate under the direct supervision of the Vice President Manufacturing - Disc with direction from the Vice President – Global Quality and Certifications. The Quality Control Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that product produced at the Liberty facility meets the requirements outlined by Customers as well as CDC Engineering standards. Additionally, this position is responsible for ensuring that all activities related to inspection, test, and production of products within the site are completed per the approved and released procedures and work instructions within the QMS. This position leads a group of quality control inspectors who inspect, test, evaluate, and validate product conformity and performance. In addition, the manager will analyze discrepancies in performance and take action to drive improvements in product and service quality.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for the daily management and performance of Receiving, In-process and Final Inspection.
- Ensures that all personnel within the facility follow all policies, procedures, and instructions as documented in the QMS.
- Works with the QA Manager to revise and update procedures, processes, work instructions within the QMS as required.
- Co-Chairs the sites Corrective Action Board (CAB) and drive appropriate and timely corrective action responses with regards to product quality issues.
- Assists the QA Manager by representing Quality Control (inspection, test, MRB, etc.) in regulatory and customer audits, facility surveys and third-party inspections.
- Is a member of the Internal Audit team and will audit functions and processes as outlined by the internal audit schedule.
- Facilitate and coordinate resolution of quality problems related to product quality with manufacturing, engineering, suppliers, sales personnel, and Corp QA personnel.
- Assists in maintaining the corrective action program and facilitate the resolution of nonconformities related product and service issues.
- Supervise, assist, and advise all inspectors as needed. Evaluate and document QC personnel performance. Provide backup for inspection personnel as required.
- Provide input for Quality Control Department budgeting, capital needs and long-range planning.
- Maintain calibration and control system for all precision measuring and test equipment.
- Helps ensure compliance to regulatory agencies, documented procedures, engineering specifications, and customer requirements.
- Provide training programs and instruction to employees.
- Maintain welder certifications and qualifications.
- Assists with performing contract review as required to insure needs of the customer can be met.
- Perform other duties as assigned, based on workload and business need.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience as a Quality Control Manager or a bachelor’s degree with experience in quality assurance in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of welding, calibration and measurement systems, inspection and testing methods, manufacturing processes and process control techniques.
- Minimum of two (2) years management/supervisory experience.
- Lean Six Sigma or other Disciplined Problem-Solving Methodology training.
- ASQ CQE, CQA, CQM certifications desired.
TECHNICAL / FUNCTION SPECIFIC:
- Strong computer skills sufficient to successfully use company ERP system, MS Office, and to mine and analyze data.
- Working knowledge of process improvement methodology and application (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, Quality Principles).
- Math and calculation.
- Problem solving and RCCA.
- Reasoning and analyzing.
- Basic understanding of quality management systems (ISO, AS, APEX, etc).
- Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Well developed planning and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of applicable certification standards and codes.
