Quality Director - SMV Recruiting

SMV Recruiting is actively looking for a Director of Quality for a heavy metal manufacturer in Vernon, CA. Our client has 4 sites throughout the area and needs someone to create a quality department from the ground up. They are looking for someone who has managed multiple sites, led strategies and transformation of quality programs, built cultures, and has a strong background with lean manufacturing and has a Six Sigma Black Belt. This role will be reporting to the Vice President of Operations and will interface with the executive leadership team.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and lead a transformational robust quality program for multiple sites focused on supplied quality, design/new product quality, product/manufacturing quality and customer complaints/issues
• Build a quality program and strategy from the ground up
• Develop and implement end-to-end quality program for multiple sites
• Interface with new product development teams to design & achieve “Zero Defect” quality process
• Establish problem solving tools (A3, 8D, 5Y, Fishbone Diagrams)
• Provide necessary training to employees
• Work with customers, analyzing the feedback and data to resolve any quality issues
• Manage the North America quality resources and provide management for these resources at plant sites
• Ensure a “Zero Defect” quality culture by implementing lean and quality tools processes to reduce defects in product
• Set quality initiatives and create roadmaps
• Work with corporate and sourcing teams to improve quality
• Perform quality audits
• Supervise two direct reports and two indirect reports, work to continue to build out a team

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Science, or related field required
• 10+ years of experience with quality management in a manufacturing setting
• 5+ years in a leadership role
• Up to 30-40% travel required
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred
• Experience with A3, 8D, 5Y or Fishbone Diagrams and DFMEA’s, PFMEA’s and Toll Gate Processes
• Worked on multiple sites (4+)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
