About the Job
The Quality Engineer will play a critical role supporting the Quality Director and act as a primary quality liaison for major company contracts. This role includes consulting with the sales team to interpret and align with customer requirements, advising and offering technical support on quality-related matters, and assisting the Quality Assurance team in essential functions. This individual will contribute to quality improvement projects and help uphold company’s Quality System for Nuclear as well as other programs, such as Military and ISO compliance.
A strong candidate will have a solid grasp of ASME and ASTM material specifications, with additional experience in ASME B&PV Section III, 10CFR50 Appendix B, 10CFR Part 21, ASME NQA-1/ANSI N45.2, and CSA-N299 preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
· Define supplier requirements, develop supplier relationships, and manage company’s Pipe’s Approved Supplier List (ASL)
· Act as Lead Auditor, conducting supplier audits and surveillance as needed
· Understand and clearly communicate company’s Pipe’s specifications and requirements across the organization
· Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with both customers and suppliers
· Regular engagement with the supply chain, including supplier site visits
· Represent customer needs internally
· Provide assistance in resolving technical issues effectively
· Oversee and support company’s Corrective Action and Non-conformance programs
· Collect, analyze, and report data supporting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Management Reviews
· Develop and deliver QA training programs as necessary
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience in education, training, and practice
· At least five years’ experience in ASME or other certified programs, ideally within power generation or energy sectors
· Experience as a Lead Auditor (in compliance with NQA-1) or as a Mechanical Inspector is preferred
· Familiarity with the piping industry is an advantage
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
· Strong customer and supplier relationship management abilities
· Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Excel
· Knowledge of steel products, manufacturing processes, specifications, and practical applications is a plus
· Solid mathematical and mechanical skills
