Job Title: Quality Engineer - Aerospace Manufacturing

Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to support the manufacturing and quality assurance of advanced aerospace products and technologies. This role requires a strong background in electrical and electronics quality control within an AS9100-compliant environment. The Quality Engineer will ensure compliance with rigorous industry standards and drive continuous improvement in quality processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply expertise in electrical and electronics, with an understanding of IPC standards and structures.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings and procedural changes for Engineering Change Orders (ECO).
- Evaluate AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports and AQL (C=0) sampling inspection reports from suppliers.
- Conduct incoming inspection of materials, ensuring documentation accuracy and traceability.
- Address Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) and lead root cause analysis for Internal Corrective Action Reports (ICARs).
- Manage nonconforming materials through NCR reconciliation and lead Material Review Board (MRB) processes to resolve nonconformances.
- Oversee Detailed Process Procedures (DPP), Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP), and conduct In-Process Quality Assurance (IPQA) checks.
- Generate AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and perform final inspections on hardware.
- Collaborate with customers during source inspections and ensure completeness of build documentation, including Certificates of Conformance (CoCs).
- Utilize measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and perform visual inspections under microscopes, adhering to ESD protocols.
- Provide training on procedural changes and archive all relevant records for objective evidence.
Support Functions
- Conduct internal audits, support AS9100 audits, and participate in supplier assessments and customer surveys.
- Perform supplier quality audits and lead Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
- Support QA Inspectors and Quality Manager as needed.
Travel
- Up to 10% travel as required.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Required: U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance, with a technical degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering. Previous experience in Quality Engineering for hardware and circuit/PCB production, preferably in an aerospace setting.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, 5+ years in an AS9100 QMS environment, familiarity with PCB, PCBA, Cable & Harness, and certification in J-STD-001. Proficiency in IPC-A-600, 610, 620 standards, understanding of GD&T, and experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
