Raytheon-Rafael Area Protection Systems (R2S) is seeking a proven, high performing Quality Engineer (QE) to fill this key role supporting a dynamic and growing company.
The QE role will be active in all aspects of Quality Assurance responsibilities. The position will require a strong collaboration and leadership skills as they will be required to work directly with our Customer and Supplier partners in a cross functional team environment to sustain ongoing production deliveries of current contracts and develop supplier second sources. The QE will also need to have the know-how to support activities related to R2S attaining their AS9100 certification.
To note: This position will develop as the company grow. To start this will be a work remote position, transitioning into a full-time on-site position at our new East Camden AR production facility in Q1 2025.

Responsibilities include:
- Quality Management System / Business Management System Focus
- Assist with the implementation and AS9100 certification of our QMS/BMS,
- Maintenance of all Quality Command media,
- Prepare and present metrics for company core processes,
- Perform and report internal and 3rd party audits.
- Program Focus
- Prepare and authorize the Acceptance Data Package (ADP) for customer deliveries.
- Represents Quality on cross-functional teams to integrate contractual and QMS into all aspects of proposals and program processes and documentation,
- Contract review of QA requirements and prepare QA estimates,
- Preparing reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data
- Act as the customers’ advocate when customers have detected quality problems,
- Supplier Focus
- Monitory Supplier performance and evaluate for areas of opportunity for improvement,
- Review and approve deviation requests from suppliers.
- Assisting in, and directing investigations and resolution of quality-related supplier, production, manufacturing, and design-related problems or non-conformances,
- Conduct or support Supplier First Article Inspections (FAI) of product revisions and new product launch,
- Track supplier response to Corrective Action Requests (CAR), evaluate supplier response, provide feedback to supplier, and ensure closure of 8D,
- Actively participates in root cause analysis on failures,
- Participate in Supplier assessments, evaluating new potential suppliers,
- Review and validate Supplier performance scorecard.
- Manufacturing Focus
- Provide quality related documents to the manufacturing floor, including control plans, control cards, visual aids and work instructions.
- Prepare and submit Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) packages ensuring all elements are met per customer requirements.
- Determining and execute quality improvement activities to prevent defects, escapes, and reduce Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ).
- Establish and implement process control plans to include capability studies, gage repeatability and reproducibility (Gage R&R) studies.
- Perform capability studies on new jobs and in other situations where they are needed.
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Engineering or related STEM programs, and at least 4 years’ experience, or a combination of related experience and education in Quality Engineering or working with Quality Systems.
- Experience presenting to and communicating in cross-functional teams.
- At least two years’ experience in reading and understanding various technical documents such as blueprints, material specification sheets, etc.
- Knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001 standards
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active or transferable U.S. government issued Secret Clearance
- ASQ Certified CQE, CMQ/OE, CSQP or CQA,
- Demonstrated success using Lean or Six Sigma tools methodologies,
- Experiences working with IFS ERP system,
- Working experience with FAR/DFAR compliance,
- Experience in a government contracting environment with DoD and non-DoD customers,
- Experienced with establishing cost estimation,
- Working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma tools, DMAIC, PPAP, DFMEA, DOE, SPC, GR&R, CPk, EVMS, Risk &Opportunity Score Card etc
