This internship is required to be On-Site.
Job Summary:
The Quality Engineer intern will lead Quality activities and projects on the assigned Value Stream as well as support Quality initiatives within the Functional organization. The position will report directly to the Quality Leader. The QE will work closely with other Functional Departments and Team Members to drive process, design, systems, and/or component improvement projects that support the Greenville Plant. This is a SkillBridge internship through Hiring Our Heroes.
Responsibilities:
• Initiate product and process engineering projects to identify and eliminate product defects and process risk.
• Facilitate audits or testing to maintain certifications for the product line through agencies such as UL or AHRI.
• Collect and analyze data from the process and audits to ensure there are no quality escapes from the plant.
• Lead and support projects for component, system, and process improvements.
• Manage development and execution of the Process Control plan as an owner and lead PFMEA development and maintenance.
• Support operations with problem solving quality issues reported from the line and drive towards true Quality at the Source
• Drive continuous improvements using lean six sigma principles, utilizing the Trane Technologies Business Operating Standards for Quality and Operational Excellence.
• Work closely with Design and Sustaining Engineering to develop Value Engineering opportunities to reduce overall cost and drive productivity and quality improvements.
• Investigate issues reported from the line and drive back any that originate from part suppliers.
• Support change management, product/process deviations and New Product Development with execution of a smooth launch.
• Investigate field quality concerns to implement preventive actions for defect elimination.
• Develop error proofing methods in the process for significant quality issues.
• Writes new process instructions and standards as necessary and develops training materials and trains users in all tools, measurements and procedures required.
• Leverage outside resources, best practices, internal consulting, and experience to ensure that business objectives in component and supplier quality improvements are met.
• Support activities to improve employee engagement and empower all team members to reach their full potential.
Qualifications:
• 2+ years of experience in quality and or manufacturing/process engineering.
• Bachelor's Degree and enrolled in SkillBridge program.
• Ability to lead a team to execute and deliver business results.
• Ability to communicate at all levels within business and with suppliers, etc.
• Ability to participate in design reviews and assist during validation and qualification, to include safety and ergonomics.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
• Exceptional analytical and detailed problem-solving skills.
• Strong Customer satisfaction focus, internal and external ·Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.
