Quality Engineer-SPC
SUMMARY
The Statistical Process Control Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing the statistical process control (SPC) program within our manufacturing processes. This role is integrated within the Quality Management Department. The engineer will lead efforts to update and optimize this process while developing and expanding our SPC program to improve organizational performance.
The person in this position works in collaboration with staff from the manufacturing processes to meet quality standards, customer requirements, and operational efficiency goals through effective data analysis and continual improvement initiatives.
*Looking for someone whose primary role has been SPC or other statistical data analysis experience with associated education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversight of the Statistical Process Control (SPC) Program:
+ Set site standards and improvement objectives in collaboration with the Quality Manager.
+ Continue to develop and improve the existing SPC program in order to meet the specific needs of each manufacturing process and the associated support systems.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-site teams including Quality Management, Manufacturing, Engineering, and IT to ensure alignment of SPC practices with company goals and regulatory / customer requirements.
Overseeing and Updating Control Chart Program:
+ Manage and optimize the existing control chart program.
+ Ensure control charts accurately reflect process performance and support timely decision-making to maintain product quality and compliance.
+ Ensure that OCAP’s / RFC’s are appropriately written to investigate and correct the OOC conditions.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
+ Collect, analyze, and interpret process data to identify trends, variability, and areas for improvement.
+ Prepare clear and concise reports, including statistical summaries and performance metrics, for management and customer purposes.
+ Set the SPC reporting standards for the site and monitor compliance.
Continual Improvement Initiatives:
+ Lead initiatives to improve process capability, reduce variability, and enhance overall efficiency using statistical methods and SPC tools.
+ Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) based on data analysis findings to address root causes of deviations or non-conformances.
Training and Knowledge Sharing:
+ Provide training and guidance to personnel involved in data collection and SPC activities to ensure understanding and adherence to SPC principles and procedures.
+ Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making and quality excellence throughout the organization.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
+ Ensure compliance with all customer and quality system requirements related to SPC and the overall process control system (PCS).
+ Support internal, third party and customer audits by preparing documentation and facilitating discussions related to SPC practices.
Perform any other tasks/duties as assigned by Quality management.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
+ To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or related field required; Master’s degree preferred. Candidates with equivalent years of experience will be considered.
+ Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in implementing and overseeing statistical process control systems within a manufacturing environment or other business environment.
+ Proficiency in statistical software like JMP, SAS, or Minitab and the Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Proficiency in SPC software like camLine, Capstone, Tibco or equivalent.
+ Strong understanding of statistical principles, control charting techniques, and data analysis methodologies.
+ Experience with quality management systems like ISO9001 and IATF16949.
+ Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with cross-functional teams and senior management.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
+ Experience in a process manufacturing or pharmaceutical company.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT AND REQUIREMENTS
+ Position is mostly office based with extended time at a desk with computer / monitors.
+ Physically able to wear cleanroom/protective gowning and PPE.
+ Employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
Compensation for the role will be based on a number of different factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, education, knowledge, skills and experience.
