About the Job
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Quality Engineer to establish, uphold, and monitor quality standards across our organization. This role requires in-depth knowledge of quality testing procedures, a solid understanding of industry standards, and a collaborative approach to ensure high levels of compliance and quality assurance. The Quality Engineer will drive continuous improvement initiatives and work closely with engineering teams on product development and testing.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Establish and manage corporate quality standards to ensure compliance with internal and external product requirements.
- Perform various quality tests using tools like micrometers, calipers, cable tapes, and microscopes.
- Conduct a range of quality testing procedures, including:
- Test and elongation measurements
- Anti-capillary fluid and air tests
- Strip force testing
- Flame tests (FT-1, FT-2, VW-1, HB)
- Hi-Pot, spark testing, and fluid compatibility tests
- Oversee extrusion line O.D. monitoring, perform short-term aging tests, and ensure products meet UL standards.
- Manage calibration schedules for testing and measurement equipment and maintain detailed calibration records.
- Ensure compliance with RoHS, Reach, Prop65, and conflict minerals standards.
- Oversee the Corporate Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure ISO-9001 standards are met.
- Act as the main contact for certificates of compliance and maintain organized records.
- Create and update Technical Data Sheets (TDS) and produce customer-specific test reports.
- Participate in management review meetings and provide recommendations on quality policies.
- Lead and support Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), Process Mapping, and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities.
- Work closely with engineering on compound trials and contribute to specialized programs, such as Cradle to Cradle initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical degree from a four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency with advanced quality testing techniques and familiarity with measurement equipment.
- Knowledge of ISO-9001, Six Sigma, and other quality standards.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with ERP/MRP systems (such as E2 Shop Systems or similar).
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze technical documents, drawings, and data sheets.
- Strong mathematical abilities, with knowledge of fractions, percentages, ratios, and basic geometry.
- Experience with converting between Metric and English units for measurement and weight.
