A Quality Inspector plays a vital role in ensuring the quality and compliance of products or components in various industries. This position involves inspecting, testing, and evaluating products against established quality standards to identify defects or deviations. The Quality Inspector is responsible for maintaining high product quality, adhering to quality control procedures, and assisting in continuous improvement efforts.
Must have CMM with CMM programming Experience.
Quality Inspector Responsibilities:
- Read blueprints, specifications, and instructions to determine the quality requirements for the product.
- Conduct thorough visual inspections and measurements of products, materials, or components using various tools and instruments. Ensure that products meet defined quality specifications and standards.
- Perform and document First-Article, In-process, and Final Inspections, communicate required adjustments to production personnel, and release finished product for delivery.
- Perform functional tests, durability tests, or other specialized tests as required. Record and analyze test data to identify deviations or defects. Document test results accurately.
- Identify and document any defects, deviations, or non-conformities in products or materials. Categorize defects according to severity and take appropriate actions, such as marking, tagging, or quarantining items.
- Maintain detailed records of inspection and testing activities, including test reports, inspection logs, and non-conformance reports. Ensure that all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Ensure that products adhere to industry standards, company specifications, and relevant regulations. Stay informed about changes in quality standards and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with production teams to provide real-time feedback on quality issues and work together to address and resolve quality concerns promptly.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives by suggesting process enhancements, efficiency improvements, or changes to prevent recurring quality issues.
- Ensure that inspection equipment and tools are properly calibrated and maintained. Report any equipment malfunctions or calibration deviations.
- Communicate quality concerns with suppliers, if necessary, and assist in the resolution of supplier-related quality issues.
- Generate regular quality reports and communicate quality metrics to management. Provide updates on the status of quality-related activities and any corrective actions taken.
Quality Inspector Qualifications:
- Engineering or related degree is preferred, but technical or vocational training in quality assurance will be considered as well
- 2-5 years of experience in quality inspection or a related field.
- Proficiency in using measurement tools, gauges, and equipment.
- Working knowledge of GD&T (ASME 14.5-2009)
- Working knowledge of welding symbols
- Experience in preparing AS9102B First Article Inspections Reports
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and quality management systems (ISO 9001 & AS9100).
- Attention to detail and a strong commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of quality control processes and methodologies including Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen preferred.
