Position Title: Lead Quality Inspector – 2nd Shift
Position Summary: The Lead Quality Inspector is responsible for upholding productivity and quality standards for customer products, ensuring that inspection processes are executed with precision and efficiency. This position involves coordinating with various departments, maintaining accurate records, and leading a team of inspectors to address quality assurance concerns and resolve issues effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure productivity and quality standards are consistently met, and communicate pertinent information to the appropriate departments.
- Organize and oversee inspection assignments, providing guidance to operations personnel on quality assurance issues.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to address non-conformance reports (NCRs) and implement rework solutions.
- Document inspection and testing data, maintaining certification package files to ensure traceability per the quality manual.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas, and consult with team members on any discrepancies or questions.
- Use inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to conduct thorough inspections.
- Lead special process inspections, including weld, paint, and chemical film evaluations.
- Troubleshoot issues proactively and recommend modifications to quality or production standards to enhance quality within equipment capabilities.
- Conduct internal audits to support the quality management system as needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in quality inspection within the aerospace industry, with at least 2-3 years in a lead or supervisory role.
- Skills: Proficient in using inspection tools and devices, including micrometers, calipers, surface plates, and CMM. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and excellent communication skills are required.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, push, pull, reach, and lift up to 20 pounds occasionally. Must pass vision acuity tests relevant to inspection requirements, including near acuity and color vision tests.
