Job Title: Quality Engineer

SUMMARY
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the highest of standards are upheld during the sourcing and manufacture of products which support the Aerospace & Defense industry. The ideal candidate has a passion for Forging and Machining with a focus on Continuous Improvement and Corrective Action Implementation in these respective areas. This role will primarily collaborate with Leadership as well as QC staff and is part of a rapidly growing, dynamic organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the Quality Management System (QMS) and applicable quality registrations, audits, and approvals.
Lead/Facilitate Shop Floor Quality Improvement activities that include conducting Floor audits and training machinists on how to inspect their in-process parts effectively and efficiently
Lead Material Review Board (MRB) investigation/disposition process that includes Root Cause/Corrective Action activities while maintaining minimal production closure times
Facilitate Corrective Action & Preventive Action (CAPA) activities that include monitoring/tracking open CAPA activities assigned to others, while working with CAPA action owners to rapid closure and escalating when necessary
Maintains quality control and inspection objectives and coordinates objectives with manufacturing personnel to maximize product quality, reliability, and minimize costs.
Read and interpret customer drawings that include GD&T and multi-level Bills Of Materials
Perform advanced manual inspections with gauging tools and perform visual product Inspections as required by production
Solve practical problems in situations where only limited standardization exists
Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills, including Team building and Collaboration
Create/refine Manufacturing Work Instructions and Quality Inspection plans
Review and approve FPI as well as FAI workflows,
Review Final inspection reports and drawing/specification change requests as required operationally.
Record, Trend and present Quality performance/SPC data where applicable
Create/refine Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
Lead Customer escapes containments and Root Cause Corrective Action utilizing advanced problem-solving techniques
Provide training to employees on Quality related topics
Interface with Customer Quality and Engineering Reps
Confers with Leadership to help formulate fiscal budget while working within the approved budget.
Reviews Company purchase orders for conformance to customer requirements concerning QC inspection requirements.
Works with suppliers to obtain information related to quality, capacity of vendors and subcontractors to meet orders, and vendor / subcontractor quality standards.
Conduct Source Inspections and schedule contracted Source inspections where necessary
Audit internal and supplier processes where necessary
Makes the final decision on acceptability of product
Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
ASQ CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) and / or CQIA (Certified Quality Improvement Associate) preferred
5-15 years of relevant Quality Engineering experience in the Aerospace and/or Machining Industry
Experience developing quality standards, methods, work instructions and procedures for the inspection of manufactured products

ADDITIONAL SKILLS
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and CMM reports.
- Must be able to properly use quality gages, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, etc.
- Ability to identify and make subjective determinations for visual defects.
- Be proficient at using Microsoft applications for word processing, spreadsheet, and collaborative communication.
