About the Job
Established in 1997 as a Dowa Japan business unit, Dowa THT America, Inc. provides the customer a state-of-the-art heat treatment environment, with fully automated carburizing and nitriding furnaces.
Responsibilities:Reporting to the Vice President, the key responsibilities of the Quality Manager are to provide oversight to the quality department (a staff of five), position Quality at Dowa as a core competency, and to provide excellence in product quality and relationship to all customers. This is a blended role, both tactical and strategic. Core responsibilities include:
- Provide coaching, training, staffing, and performance management for direct subordinates.
- Establish and implement processes and practices necessary to eliminate the possibility of “abnormal product”.
- Partner with the production and engineering staff to identify opportunity for enhancement and improvement of end product.
- Create and utilize reporting tools to communicate content to management staff on quality statuses.
- Effectively communicate with current and prospective customers regarding quality processes, techniques, expectations, and outcomes.
- Facilitate and manage the corrective action team to address defective quality in all products within the value stream.
- Partner in the oversight of compliance, maintenance and/or achievement of quality management systems, such as ISO.
- Develop and implement effective and efficient preventative and corrective actions.
- Assist in preparing the annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating remediation.
- Review, update, control, and approve documentation.
- Develop and manage the calibration program, including gages, checks of fixtures, and other measuring devices.
- Provide onsite supplier visits and manage the process for root cause analysis and verification of corrective actions of supplier quality issues.
The successful candidate will have the following:
- A BA/BS in a related field of study, preferred.
- 5 years minimum experience as a Quality Manager; not a supervisor, not a lead, not a technician...a Manager.
- An ability and strong desire to build; processes, teams, a presence.
- An affinity for developing collaborative and impactful relationships, both within the organization and with customers.
- A commitment for execution and follow up at all levels.
- A strong analytical mind that understands and utilizes process analysis and is able to translate that process into action.
- A high level of integrity; in dialogue, in actions, in the heart.
- A willingness to teach best practice and bring out the best in others.
- An understanding and past accomplishments in the transition of an organization from reactive to proactive in quality initiatives; and responsibility for the process.
- Experience in heat treatment would definitely be an advantage, but certainly not mandatory.
The compensation for this position is targetted in the $100,000 and over range, DOE.
