We are currently seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager. This position is responsible for the continued development of the Quality Assurance Department and for the communication required to promote quality improvements. The QA Department, led by the QA Manager, works as a team with production to ensure that all products are shipped and received without defects. The QA Manager is also responsible for ensuring all inspection and quality control procedures are followed.
What You’ll Do
- Responsible for implementing and improving quality control standards, policies, and procedures in all company plants/facilities.
- Supervise the operations of the QA Departments at all plant facilities and develop departmental and company personnel plans related to the area of responsibility.
- Formulate and manage the development and implementation of company goals.
- Define quality procedures in conjunction with staff while maintaining and creating Corporate NDT certifications.
- Develop or direct QA policies and procedures, as well as vendor checks.
- Direct the inspection and quality control of all incoming raw materials, supplies, and finished goods.
- Visit each location regularly to audit their quality programs and procedures.
- Monitor all plant facilities and report on quality standards, deviations, and cost/value opportunities.
- Recommend or take corrective action as determined by situation analysis to maintain company quality standards in all plant facilities; oversee non-conformance and root cause analysis.
- Prepare for approval of departmental budgets by working with the QA department in each plant facility for all functions in the scope of responsibility for quality control.
- Ensure that QA budgets from each plant facility are appropriately followed and is the first to react to budget problems in these areas.
- Build positive relationships with all team members, customers, and vendors.
- Be part of establishing and maintaining quality measures at all locations. Focus on improvement in quality.
- Provide input on creating standard work within production to meet quality standards.
- Review customer specifications for quality requirements and provide positive feedback to applicable departments.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in applied science or engineering field.
- CWI (Certified Weld Inspector) must be completed within two years.
- NDT Certifications must be completed within two years.
- Certified as an ISO 9001:2015 lead auditor preferred.
- Five years of experience managing a quality department and developing quality procedures in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to develop strong relationships with direct reports; create a positive, engaging, and healthy work environment by acting as a mentor and coach.
- Proficient in conducting tests and inspections of products or processes to evaluate quality performance.
- Occasional travel and some nights/weekends/on-call working hours will be required.
- Strong experience in steel fabrication processes and technologies.
- Strong project management skills.
- Strong customer relations skills.
- Exemplary coaching ability to both production and QA team members.
- Monitoring/Assessing the performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
- Experience working with welders and inspecting welds is preferred.
