Quality Systems Engineer
Summary:
The Quality Systems Engineer coordinates all activities that will assure successful development and maintenance of Food Safety System Certification (FSSC 22000) system. Additionally, the position supports the Operations team in food safety related activities.
This position, by ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, is responsible for recommending, developing, implementing and managing the food safety and quality systems.

Summary:
The Quality Systems Engineer coordinates all activities that will assure successful development and maintenance of Food Safety System Certification (FSSC 22000) system. Additionally, the position supports the Operations team in food safety related activities.
This position, by ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, is responsible for recommending, developing, implementing and managing the food safety and quality systems.
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Manage, revise and maintain food safety and quality systems to ensure successful FSSC 22000 certification is maintained
- Prepare, coordinate and represent the company during 3rd party, Regulatory and surveillance audits.
- Manage and conduct the internal food safety training program to enhance companywide awareness
- Ensure compliance of FSSC 22000 requirements through standardized data management processes including revision and maintenance of documents
- Manage records program ensuring all records required for FSSC 22000 are maintained and current.
- Lead management review meetings that illustrate performance against key performance indicators and provide expertise regarding process improvements and non-conformities.
- Coordinate the internal audit program to ensure maintenance of the food safety system while managing any identified necessary changes.
- Conduct occasional food safety audits of suppliers or warehouses with a team of internal auditors
- Ensure compliance to FSMA regulations and keep HARPC plan current as changes occur.
- Maintain RSPO certification through the annual audit process.
- Manage non-conformity reports and monitor the Continuous Improvement program to support business process improvements and timely closure of open items.
- Manage and develop Documentation Specialist to ensure regulatory compliance and specification review through our PLM system.
Specific Knowledge and Skills:
- Expertise and working knowledge in ISO standards preferably 9001:2008, FSSC 22000
- Working knowledge with a GFSI standard preferably FSSC 22000
- Detail oriented
- Excellent in record keeping with the ability to prepare detailed written reports on a routine basis.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills
- Must be able to lead meetings and perform presentations.
- Proven skills and ability to multi-task/prioritize workload.
- Solid analytical skills for data driven decision making
- Proven knowledge of food safety and regulatory requirements
- Proficient working knowledge of MS Office applications and versatile with use of software programs
Education and Work Experience:
- 5+ years working in quality within a food manufacturing or related environment.
- Proven experience with developing, evaluating and implementing ISO processes and programs, preferably within a food manufacturing environment or related field
- Experience with food regulatory and compliance.
- Experience working with and/or leading cross functional teams
- Experience in training and working with different employee levels throughout an organization
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related field with commensurate experience
- ISO 9001:2008, FSSC 22000 Training or equivalent experience
- Preventive Controls Qualified Individual Training
- Lead Auditor Training preferred
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) certifications a plus
Working Conditions:
- Factory environment: sometimes-noisy conditions on a regular basis.
- Periodic off-shift and occasional weekend work required
- Rare to Occasional ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Frequent sitting, walking and standing
- Frequent Squatting/Bending/Stooping/Stretching.
- Occasional local travel, and travel by air to meetings and vendors
