ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Meet standards for quality as set forth by the company
- Determine specifications and validate manufactured products and identify quality concerns:
- casing reveal & length
- casing miters flush & tight
- hinge finish & position
- door stops flush & tight
- door reveal
- staples and nails fully sunk
- ensure no material defect (smudge marks, labels on unit, scratches, dents, nicks, chips, etc.)
- correct hinge or strike chip-out
- overall unit
- Match unit to label to ensure quality standards (jam width, hinge type, bore specifications, correct insert and/or sill)
- Thorough understanding of Work Order tickets & the ability to read and interpret Shop drawings and templates
- Identify cause of errors, problems and/or defects
- Mark items for acceptance or rejection (products and/or materials not meeting specifications)
- Conceal blemishes in work pieces, such as nicks and dents and make minor repairs
- Discuss validation results with those responsible for products and recommend corrective actions
- Notify supervisors of production problems and assist in identifying corrective action
- Assist in recommending and developing solutions to address quality concerns and to enhance quality/productivity
- Ability to learn and utilize DMAIC, Lean & Six Sigma tools in role
- Conduct all activities in a safe manner, adhering to company safety standards
- Assure proper housekeeping and organization
- Abide by proper standard of work procedures and safety standards when operating hand tools and other machines or tools
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required
Experience: 5+ years production line experience in a manufacturing environment; experience as a millwork assembler or master carpenter is a plus.
Computer Skills: MS Office
Certificates & Licenses: Green Belt training preferred

- Read and understand English
- Read work orders, instructions, and evaluate material specifications
- Recognize wood species
- Distinguish colors
- The ability to see details at close range and match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness.
- Must be able to read tape measure
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Good hand and eye coordination
- Ability to use hand tools, pneumatic staple gun and other electric tools when necessary
- Ability to follow oral and written communication from supervisor, lead or co-worker
