About the Job
POSITION SUMMARY:
Machine and perform required tests to determine product compliance to specification.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
RESPONSIBLE DIRECTLY TO THE DEPARTMENT SUPERVISOR FOR:
• Quality and quantity of work and product produced.
• Completion of assigned tasks.
• Tools, equipment, and product.
• Proper care and usage of equipment.
• Adherence to corporate policies, procedures, practices, and specifications.
• Adherence to department policies, procedures, practices, and specifications.
• Working normal shift schedule and hours, as required. Also, any extended work schedule or days and/or hours as required.
PREPARE FOR WORK AND PERFORM THE WORK ELEMENTS COMMON TO THE JOB SUCH AS, BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
• Jobs that are assigned by supervisor.
• Receive any special instructions from supervisor.
• Assist in departmental equipment and material set-ups.
• Assist in departmental equipment maintenance.
FUNCTION AND GENERAL SCOPE OF THE JOB:
• To perform required tests to determine product compliance to specification.
WORK TO BE PERFORMED:
• Prepare test specimens and perform tests to ensure conformance to Vallourec Star, API, ASTM or other standards. Testing shall include mechanical testing including yield and tensile, Charpy impact, hardness, and other tests as required.
• Communication of test results and maintenance of test data.
• All other tasks assigned by supervisor.
QUALITY ASSURANCE/INSPECTION DUTIES PERFORMED:
• Issue report with either acceptance or rejection classification for material tested.
MAINTAIN QUALITY:
• Consult supervisor on any peculiarities in product, on equipment or practices.
• Set-up equipment as necessary to maintain quality.
• Check work performed and report any deficiencies to the supervisor.
• Visually check work performed and report any possible hazards or errors.
MAINTAIN RECORDS:
• Maintenance of test results.
5S:
• Keep equipment and working area clean for the purpose of safety, appearance, and operating efficiency.
• Place equipment, tooling and gauging in proper location at the end of shift or completion of job task.
• Cleanup work area at the end of shift and/or during shift as required.
SAFETY AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Observe safety rules and wear required safety equipment while on the job, such as a hard hat, steel toe boots, safety glasses, face shields, and hearing protection.
• Read and follow M.S.D.S. manual when handling hazardous chemicals.
• Follow at all times what is known to be a safe practice.
• Dirt, grease, oil and water present to some degree.
• Noise may at times be to a high degree.
• Work for extended periods of time in ambient temperature ranges from 0 to 100 degrees F.
• Work shift is 8 to 12 hours a day, 5 to 6 days a week.
• Occasional use of vibrating tools.
• Some tasks may be performed in a confined space.
• Work performed inside, manufacturing plant environment with occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.
