R&D Prosthetist - WillowWood

Summary:

In this role, you participate in the advancing the prosthetic industry through four main areas. First is to participate in the development and research process for new, existing, or grant funded products by working with R&D and Operations teams to fit participants with prototype prosthetic devices for evaluation. The second is to lead daily operations of the Research and Experience Center (REC). This includes R&D fittings of test participants, execution of protocols, and coordinating education or commercial activities within the REC. Third, the candidate will help to prepare and transfer educational information about products developed to the educational team, development team, & marketing team for use in educational seminars, internal & external instructions, & marketing materials that educate & promote products to WillowWood customers. Finally, this position will be technical support to WillowWood custom fabrication department as well as one of several clinical support providers for WillowWood's external customers.

Essential Responsibilities of the Job:

• Participate & support the research and development process.
  • Work with amputee test participants seen at our facility as well as outside testing facilities.
  • Work very closely with the engineering department in the development of new devices, test procedures or services. This could be for new products or existing products.
  • Extensive participant record keeping will be required.
  • Collaboration with other staff prosthetists is required.
• Manage the daily activities of the WillowWood Research and Experience Center
  • Maintain project schedules by timely coordination of test participant visits
  • Collaborate with commercial team to organize events within the REC including participating/leading the events
• Participate in the development and delivery of Education to WillowWood customers.
  • Seminars conducted in house through the WillowWood REC as well as at National, Regional, and State trade shows.
  • Educational Seminars to be conducted on-site within customer facilities
  • Development and delivery of on-line computer training programs
• Provide technical support to custom fabrication department.
  • Assist the custom fabrication department in dealing with difficult cases, in teaching needed hand skills for technicians on staff, and in communicating with custom fabrication customers for clarification and support.
• Support customers with clinical questions by phone or in person.
  • Provide email, telephone and face-to-face technical support to customers on complete line of OWW products as well as CAD support for the Omega system.
• Working with and interacting between various teams and departments to achieve objectives and responsibilities.

Essential Skills Needed for the Job:

• Minimum of 5 years of patient care experience
• ABC and / or BOC CP or CPO credentials
• A strong desire to improve products and services available to amputees around the world
• Outstanding communication skills and ability to react quickly to changing circumstances
• Patient care abilities at the highest level of care
• High levels of creative team work in all aspects of performance

• Ability to travel when and where necessary, even on short notice.
• Ability and/or prior public speaking and presentation experience needed for conducting seminars and other training sessions.
• A background in an engineering discipline is preferred
• Experience working with IRBs is preferred
