For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States. NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, and technical support to the National Agricultural Statistics Service through the Experienced Worker Program (EWP). *This position will be open until filled. NOTE: This position has the option to work remotely. | ||||||
Qualifications: Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in R, including building an application using R shiny. Experience using Git/Github. Some experience in python is also preferred. OR HS/GED Degree
Duties: The enrollee will serve as an R programmer. They will build the California Grape Crush and Pierce?s Disease Assessment application in R (an R shiny application). The existing program is written in FoxPro. The new application will interact with an MSSQL database that has many tables. The application will have an extensive user interface, complex logic and error checks, and will be able to output spreadsheets and pdfs. The enrollee will write code, use Git for version control, keep track of project progress, attend meetings, and document their work.This assignment will not begin until March 2025. The work is primarily sedentary, imposing no unusual physical burdens or challenges. The work is performed in a comfortable office setting.
