ECU Health Beaufort Hospital serves as a campus of ECU Health Medical Center. The 142-bed full-service hospital is located in Washington and has earned national designation as a Primary Stroke Center. It is home to a 16-bed emergency department that serves approximately 25,000 patients per year, as well as the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center – a provider of leading-edge chemotherapy and radiation therapy, among other cancer services. ECU Health Beaufort also offers general medical and surgical services, operative services, a women’s birthing center, rehabilitation services and outpatient clinics.
Position Summary
These professionals calibrate and set up radiation therapy equipment and position patients to ensure accurate treatments and pinpoint radiation doses to tumor areas, minimizing exposure to normal and critical surrounding structures. This work must be performed with the highest level of accuracy to achieve the expected treatment outcome.
The Radiation Therapists are accountable for maintaining daily quality assurance measures on the linear accelerators and other departmental equipment.
In addition, the Radiation Therapists instruct radiation therapy students, medical physics graduate students, medical residents, and other healthcare providers on the operation of radiation therapy machines and explain and demonstrate specific procedures and techniques; and provide assistance on cancer research projects.
Minimum Requirements
- Current RT (R) (T) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiology
- American Heart Association BLS Certification
- Associate Degree or higher
- 10+ years of related experience
- Graduation from a Radiation Therapy Technologist program approved by the Council of Allied Health Education and Accreditation and certification eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy
- Technology.
- All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Clinical Ladder
Radiation Therapist I:
- Current RT (R) (T) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiology
- American Heart Association BLS Certification
- Associate Degree or higher
- 0-3 years of related experience
- Graduation from a Radiation Therapy Technologist program approved by the Council of Allied Health Education and Accreditation and certification eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy
- Technology.
- All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Radiation Therapist II:
- Current RT (R) (T) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiology
- American Heart Association BLS Certification
- Associate Degree or higher
- 3-10 years of related experience
- Graduation from a Radiation Therapy Technologist program approved by the Council of Allied Health Education and Accreditation and certification eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy
- Technology.
- All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Radiation Therapist III:
- Current RT (R) (T) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiology

- Associate Degree or higher
- 10+ years of related experience

- Primary Shift: Part-Time with 20 hours
- Days; Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 5:00pm, Friday 8:00am - 12:00pm
