We require a minimum of 3 years of experience, with essential experience in pediatrics, EPIC, and Siemens systems.
Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Radiology Manager and Diagnostic Team Leader, perform a variety of diagnostic procedures with technical expertise and competency. Understand the daily operations of all radiographic equipment and departmental flow to obtain optimal imaging and patient care for diagnosis and measurement of disease.
Job Responsibilities- Perform and assist in various general diagnostic procedures that produce optimal imaging with diagnostic quality according to the department’s policy and procedures.
- Follow standards for routine diagnostic exams, positioning, patient care, and documentation as prescribed in the procedure manual set forth by the imaging department.
- Provide optimal diagnostic imaging and radiation safety for the purpose of diagnostic interpretation.
- Select appropriate technical factors, safety devices, and operate all imaging equipment as directed.
- Orient and train all Radiology students and new employees.
- Maintain constant attention to patients assigned to the technologist.
Identify, process, transfer, and archive all patient exams. Maintain all records in accordance with Hospital and Regulatory policy.
- Responsible for proper identification on all exam records and images including patient demographics.
- Maintain all HIPAA regulations and policies regarding patient information.
- Maintain appropriate records of patient examinations.
- Maintain the integrity and security of the Radiology Information System and all other hospital computer systems.
Adhere to federal and state radiation safety guidelines and regulations regarding patient and operator protection, collimation, and shielding.
- Ensure dosimeter badge is worn while working in the imaging department.
- Document and record the Dose Area Product (DAP).
- Provide radiation protection in accordance with all safety standards and the principle of ALARA to ensure the well-being of patients, hospital personnel, and the general public.
- Refer to the Diagnostic Team Leader for any unresolved problems relating to staffing, morale, work methods, discipline, and other activities.
- Promote professionalism, continuing education, and staff development.
- Participate in the formal in-service program governed by the Radiology Department.
- Subject to covering call for holidays.
- Complete all hospital and Radiology Department mandatory education annually.
- Obtain 12 CE credits/year for ARRT Compliance, with 6 CE Credits offered through CHOP Radiology Initiatives.
- Complete training and in-service presentations required for the Diagnostic Department.
- Intermediate knowledge of all forms of diagnostic imaging.
- Intermediate knowledge of specific/cross-trained areas.
- Intermediate knowledge of Radiology Information System.
- Able to handle multiple tasks.
