Job Summary:
- Fast-paced clinical, academic, and research Imaging Center in the San Antonio Medical Center.
- Work with subspecialized physicians and certified technologists imaging a diverse patient population.
- Opportunity to cross train in C-arm procedures, Bone Density, and State of the Art imaging system that delivers full body, high-quality images covering the full set of musculoskeletal and orthopedic exams.
- This position will be responsible for operating and maintaining x-ray equipment and taking x-rays of various portions of the body to assist radiologists in the diagnosis of disease and injuries.
- May lead or mentor lower-level team members.
Job Duties:
- Operates and maintains x-ray equipment and takes x-rays of various portions of the body as ordered by the provider while always practicing radiation protection techniques.
- Prepares patients for x-ray by transferring, positioning, and instructing patients regarding the procedure.
- Selects appropriate imaging parameters and operates console and peripheral hardware e.g., stands, positioning device, and any other devices/equipment used in radiology.
- Performs quality assurance on radiographs to ensure optimal imaging; places service calls on equipment as needed.
Education:
- Associates of Applied Science Degree or the successful completion of an approved two-year (2) program in radiologic technology is required.
Experience:
- Five (5) years of experience is required.
- Extensive experience working with orthopedic views, C-ARM Units, and bone density scans is preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
- Ability to complete successful Quality Assurance processes and daily sterilization procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers, and staff.
- Ability to work in a fast pace and high-volume environment.
Additional Registrations:
- Must have a current certification with American Registry for Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and current license with Texas Medical Board.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Five (5) years experience is required.
Benefits Overview:

TRS is a defined benefit retirement plan which UT Health matches employee contributions. ORP is for eligible faculty staff employees. Voluntary retirement programs are also available to invest before- or after-tax dollars with the choice of five quality retirement plan providers.
Time Off- A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options:
Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment.
Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each year plus three floating holidays, which can be used anytime during the fiscal year.
FSAs- Employees can enroll in flexible spending accounts (FSAs) to set aside money from earnings before taxes for qualifying dependent day care expenses or out-of-pocket health care expenses.
