Job Responsibilities/Duties
Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS) manages one of the most challenging radioactive waste cleanup projects in the country. Our focus is reducing the environmental risk posed by 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste stored in 177 underground tanks on the Hanford Site located in Richland, WA. WRPS is seeking a RadCon Engineering Manager in the Radiological Controls department. This individual will manage the WRPS Radiological Engineering organization including development and implementation of policies, procedures, standards, technical support, and oversight of the Radiological Protection Program. This position reports directly to the WPRS RadCon Manager and is responsible for managing a group of Health Physicists and operations support specialists in developing and maintaining a compliant, technically sound and implementable program.
This position requires an in-depth programmatic working knowledge of the technical elements of a Department of Energy (DOE) RadCon program including, but not limited to, internal and external dosimetry, radiological instrumentation and surveys, radiological work planning, and maintenance and implementation of RadCon related software. Duties to include, but not limited to:
Under general managerial oversight, promotes a positive, safety-conscious, and collaborative work environment consistent with the WRPS mission, vision, and values, based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
Implements Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS), Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), and Environmental Management System (EMS) responsibilities in assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Effectively leads team members including establishing arrangements that allow them to perform effectively in their role.
Manages assigned scope and subordinates by ensuring adequate resources are provided, assigning and tracking tasks, evaluating personnel performance and providing professional development opportunities.
Mentors, trains, coaches and councils' staff in the effective development and delivery of assigned programs, projects and deliverables.
Identifies opportunities for improvement, including professional development, training, ongoing review or work products/deliverables, and adjustments to schedule.
Ensures adherence to all contract requirements and applicable state/federal regulations as appropriate.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Grade 21:
Bachelor's (BS) degree in Science, Engineering or other related discipline and Twelve (12) years of Health Physics or related experience, with prior management and DOE RadCon experience.
Grade 22:
Bachelor's (BS) degree in Science, Engineering or other related discipline and Fifteen (15) years of Health Physics or related experience, with prior management and DOE RadCon experience.
- Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is significantly larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.
Desired Qualifications
* Certification by the American Academy of Health Physics is highly desired
* Formal training in the discipline of Health Physics
* Well-rounded experience base in radiological control programs and program development/implementation is highly desired
* Good interpersonal and communication skills including writing skills
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, WRPS takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made within the targeted hiring range posted. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
Hiring Range Minimum: $138,700
Hiring Range Maximum: $204,775
